Eagle Surgical Products - Electro Lube
Frequently Asked Questions
  1. What is Electro Lube?

Electro Lube is a sterile, honey-like solution that helps keep electro-cautery instruments from sticking during and after cauterization, as well as preventing the buildup of eschar.  Electro Lube is like cooking spray for surgery.

  2. How long does it last?

A standard coating of Electro Lube will last for several burns, however it can be easily applied as needed.  We suggest that whenever you put your instrument down, your tech should wipe the instrument and reapply Electro Lube before placing it back on the tray.

Also, when sealing larger vessels, apply a fresh coat of Electro Lube so you can cauterize longer without fear of tearing your seal.

  3. Can I use it on any instrument?

Electro Lube is approved as an electro-cautery accessory, so it can be used on any bi-polar or mono-polar instrument.

  4. Can I use Electro Lube on my “non-stick” disposable instrument?

Yes, Electro Lube can be used on any electro-cautery instrument.

  5. Is Electro Lube bio-compatible?

Yes, Electro Lube is completely bio-compatible.  It’s made of an organic form of a phospholipid found naturally in the body. Electro Lube has zero toxins or allergens.

  6. Is Electro Lube available in Europe?

Electro Lube is CE marked and is available in most countries in Europe.  It’s also carried by many distributors worldwide.  Locate my distributor.

  7. Can I use Electro Lube with a surgical robot?

Yes, in fact the use of Electro Lube is recommended in the user’s manual of the Vinci surgical robot.  Electro Lube significantly decreases surgical time due to the dismantling, cleaning, and reassembly of robotic electro-cautery systems.

  8. How is Electro Lube packaged?

Electro Lube comes in a single-use sterile package.  Each case of Electro Lube contains 20 single-use packages.

  9. Does Electro Lube inhibit conductivity?

No, Electro Lube does not inhibit electrical conductivity.  In fact, unlike coated, non-stick surfaces, you don’t need to increase the power settings of your device to effectively use Electro Lube.

  10. What is Electro Lube made of?

Electro Lube is a lecithin-based formula.  Lecithin is an all-natural, non-toxic phospholipid that is formed naturally by our bodies.
